Eva Carson is a local artist, who paints still-lifes, landscapes and large scale murals. Her mediums vary from acrylic, oils, pastels, oil sticks and colored pencils, and often are used in combination. Whether working on a still-life, a landscape, or even a commissioned mural, Eva strives to capture and emphasize strong contrasts, vibrant colors and light in her paintings. She also often uses unusual vantage points for her compositions, adding an element of abstractness to her otherwise representational paintings.

Eva Carson graduated from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. She has studied independently with various artists, as well as taking numerous workshops and classes in Maryland, Virginia and Germany. She has been a member of the Maryland Federation of Art since 1995, and a member of the Board of Directors of MFA since 1997, including serving as President from 2001-2003.

Recently, Eva Carson has joined the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association and has participated in numerous "Paint-Outs", painting on location around the area and the Eastern Shore. Like her previous work , her current work of landscape paintings strives to capture light and emphasizes contrasts between light and shadows. Eva looks for scenes with dramatic skies and interesting contrasts and shapes in the landscape. Since the paintings are done on location, the immediacy of recording and responding to the changing light and weather conditions is evident in the work.

The February 2002 issue of "American Artist" magazine featured Eva's mixed media work on paper in an article entitled, "When One Media is Not Enough". Eva has participated and won awards in numerous Juried Exhibitions at the MFA Galleries, (Circle and City), and has exhibited at various other venues in and around Annapolis and Baltimore. Currently her work can also be seen at The Framer's Vise in Severna Park, The American Crafts Collection on Main Street , Annapolis, the Circle Gallery on State Circle, Annapolis, and Bishops Stock Gallery in Snow Hill , MD.
